I thought the first in the Lost Night Files ser As soon as I saw that Jayne Ann Krentz had a new paranormal mystery/romance series coming out, I headed for NetGalley to get a copy. I loved Krentz's previous series, Fogg Lake, and this one has some of the same aspects: friendship and support among a group of women, conspiracies and a setting that enhances the atmosphere of the book. "Sleep No More," the first book in her new series, Lost Night Files, was another book that kept me up way too late. I’m never disappointed in a Krentz book.moreĪs soon as I saw that Jayne Ann Krentz had a new paranormal mystery/romance series coming out, I headed for NetGalley to get a copy. I couldn’t put the book down and had to read it in one night. Ambrose is able to convince Pallas that something happened at the sleep clinic and they begin to investigate and not everyone is happy with their questions and someone is willing to kill to keep the truth from coming out. He decides to call Pallas and have her investigate what happened to him and put it on her podcast. He believes that he saw a murder at the clinic and that the doctor is covering it up. Ambrose Drake has also had a lost night and another bad experience with a Carnelian Sleep Clinic that he went to. This incident changed all three of their lives especially with starting the “Lost Night Files” podcast. Pallas with Talia and Amelia were strangers that found each other when they woke up at the Lucent Springs Hotel without any memory of what happened to them. Once again Krentz has pulled you into her story and her world. Starts right off with a murder and continues with the action, suspense and romance throughout the book. This is the first in “The Lost Night Files” and what a great beginning. This incident ch I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. Ramzi’s findings, if the baby was male, the placenta would be attached to the uterus on its right, and if a female, it would be attached on the uterus’ right side. Saad Ramzi’s research involved more than 5,000 sonograms from which a baby’s gender can be determined within six weeks of gestation, based on how the placenta is placed. If it swings from side to side, you’re going to have a boy, but if it moves in a circular direction, you could well have a girl. To perform this test, here’s what you need to do:Ĭhop a cabbage into bite-sized pieces and boil it in water. The formula is simple: If the pH level is high, it means you’re going to have a boy, else a low pH means it’s a girl. Its success is because the cabbage reacts to your urine’s pH level. By drawing a horizontal line along the lower spine and another one passing through the genital tubercle, you can find out the gender based on what you find at the point of intersection of these lines. At 12 weeks pregnancy too, it is difficult to tell whether the baby is a boy or girl, however this can be found out based on the angle of the nub.įor this, it’s important to have a profile view of the genitals. The genital tubercle refers to the nub that is visible in week 4 of gestation, which later becomes the penis or clitoris. This is ably done using the genital tubercle angle theory. It has been medically proved that sonography can determine the gender of your baby to about 98.7% accuracy, and all this in week 12 of your pregnancy. Written by Hossein Amini, based on the novel by James Sallis. And after killing Bernie Rose in same way like he kills him in the movie, a heavily wounded Driver decides to leave Los Angeles in order to protect Irene's son Benicio and his old friend Shannon (who unlike in the movie is not killed in this earlier draft) from the other mafia killers that will try to find him, while Shannon ends up taking care of Benicio and helps him find a place to live on ranch far away from Los Angeles. Drive (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was released on CD on September 19, 2011, by Lakeshore Records. Drive is a 2011 American neo-noir arthouse crime thriller film about a mysterious Hollywood stuntman, mechanic and getaway driver who lands himself in trouble when he helps out his neighbor. After killing the hitman who killed Irene, the Driver sneaks into Nino's beach house and kills all of his bodyguards and drowns him. The ending of this draft was also different. At one point after an egoistic stuntman starts messing with him during the filming of a very difficult chase scene, the Driver crashes the stuntman off the road and ends up beating him up so badly that he breaks the stuntman's jaw. The Driver's character also had some more scenes in this draft focusing on him and his "problem" of losing control and having rage attacks. Later in the script the Driver manages to find him and kill him with razor wire. She then gets killed by a hitman, who was actually sent by Nino to kill the Driver, who then chases him in his Impala and eventually crashes into the hitman's car, only managing to kill the hitman's driver while he escapes. From the dry lake bed of El Mirage, California, we present these pinnacles of automotive achievement cars that affirm that, for all the hand-wringing about the coming electrified future, the. There's other solutions for this ( Cocktail, for example), but I use Titanium's Onyx, an essential utility designed to keep your Mac in fantastic shape. Little Snitch runs inconspicuously in the background and can also detect network-related activity that indicates viruses, trojans and other malware. You can then choose to allow benign requests, while forbidding unwanted communication attempts. This utility monitors your system and lets you know when applications are attempting to make an outgoing connection. How can you tell which applications are doing this, and how can you control what information they send? Simple - install LittleSnitch. To get rid of an application and all its trace files you need AppCleaner, an icon-based solution which finds and deletes all an applications associated files when you delete the software, reclaiming valuable space.Īny active application can send out information to external places from your Mac when they are online. What confuses me about this whole project is that machine learning has been around for some time, and is becoming more and move avaliable to developers on more and more platforms, and despite that we don’t see better tools for automatically detecting this type of content.Unfortunately, applications don't delete their support files when you choose to delete the application, bloating your drive with useless clutter. There is no point in having a human review the photos unless there’s a hit against the database of suppressed perceptual hashes, once an image has been submitted which appears in the database it can be held for review withouth being published (similar to the existing tag review features, which prevent auto-tagging of your face in image). Requiring that each photo be reviewed before submitting isn’t just a privacy problem, it’s too much work. The system we’re talking about is explicitly designed to censor images and flag users who post censorable images, the use of the system to suppress content which some simply doesn’t like can’t be overlooked. Doesn’t have to be compromising, could just be a bad hair day or maybe me parking my car in two handicapped spots. Now, let’s say I have a photo someone sent that I don’t want published to any social network site. Generating the hash on the device better preserves user privacy, using open source software will keep the blood-thirsty IP lawyers at bay. Sending the image to a cloud service exposes the image to potentially multiple parties. Sending the code to generate the perceptual hash to the user exposes it to potential analysis and reverse engineering. Network bandwidth is limited relative to processor power, generating hashes locally is better resource management. Generating perceptual hashes on the device takes processor resources and code, but nothing that my watch couldn’t handle. Sending the image over the network takes bandwidth and exposes the image to more potential viewers (which is what the system is supposed to be preventing in the first place). There are a few things that I like better about this method but looking at the specific tradeoffs helps to understand the advantages: Tradeoff One: Processor Power vs. The image is flagged for review based on content policy.Someone posts an image which matches one of the hashes.Existing posts matching the hash are hidden and reviewed.Hashs are submitted to a database of suppressed image hashes.Perceptual Hashes are Generated on Device.User designates photos & videos they wish to suppress. We can implement a sysetem with the following steps. Given that we have a way to generate a perceptual hash of the photo on the users device, there is no need to send the actuall image to anyone. Thankfully, there are some related, portable, open source efforts which overlap the feature set of PhotoDNA considerably. While there’s a lot of press-release content about the underlying technology being donated to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children there’s no indication that the source code is generally available. The article discusses the existing solution to the problem of unseeable content on the Internet: PhotoDNA.
